Topic Wiki

If your video is not embedding, see if your link starts with "http:" - if it does, change it to "https:" and it will work.

If a video isn't embedded you should assume it may be inappropriate for some people.

How do I embed a Youtube video?
Simply post the YouTube URL.
Alternately (actually, this may no longer work):
Click the "youtube" button on the second row on the furthermost left side.
You will now have the words: in your editor.
Now, copy and paste the youtube video id (youtube.com/watch?v=oHg5SJYRHA0&x=y) in between the middle brackets in order for it to look like this:

and leave out this part of the link: "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v="

Or you can paste the YouTube link, highlight it, and then click on the "YouTube" button. This will encase the link in the youtube tags,
Now just click "post" and you're done!

How can I search if a video has been posted here before?
This is not foolproof, but it's a good start.
Search for the youtube ID (youtube.com/watch?v=oHg5SJYRHA0)

What happens when your kids take cookies off the shelves and put it in your cart and then you take the cookies out three aisles later when you realize and ditch them (the cookies, not the kids) in the section with pet food and laundry detergent?

What happens when a driver signals to turn but changes his mind at the last moment, swerves to a different lane and goes straight?

Those are life and death issues which are dealt with in Autonomous Driving cars. They use similar technology here.

And it's not simple video surveillance as suggested by shulem92, it's actually pretty complex, uses multiple cameras and sensors to get a 3D real time analysis of what's going on in the store. (think BIG BROTHER!!!)
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

I wasn't saying it was simple video alone. Of course it uses sensors also. And obv big brother has potential here, I just think that the primary tracking is done via surveillance, as opposed to sensors. Sensors would be too problematic if 2 shoppers are close to each other. Idk the answer to Freddies question. Maybe if u bring kids it associates all of you?

They probably also have RFID which checks when going through the sensors to go out

Btw the job of grocery checkout cashier is one of the biggest prospects of employment for young people as well as people with very low skill.

If groceries go automated, those jobs will be replaced by tech jobs.

I still seems to me that RFID is just a תנא דמסייע here, with most of the identification and intelligence done using different technology.

A call log. You are supposed to notice that one of the locations is just plain old "United States."

For all of the Geographic and trivia knowledge imparted in this video, you'd think that he should know better how to pronounce the names of the countries:

1. Lichtenstein (pronunciation might still be forgivable)
2. Kiribati (pronounced Kiribas)
3. Suriname (last e is mute)
