UPDATE: He's alive in hospital with broken leg, other guy without injures
He managed to jump into the car trunk.

Surprising... That other horrific crash (with the ice and 18-wheeler) that was posted on this thread (which I saved for some unknown reason) was taken down shortly thereafter. Still one of the most insane accidents I've ever seen.

they should video all conversations with the rabbonim so there is no miscommuncation
most roshei yeshiva will have another way to explain to this

if you ask most roshei yeshiva to take in a child which is not thier yeshiva's type they will turn them down
if you showed them this video they willthen say he meant something else in that specific case but thier case is diffewrent

While on the one hand I agree, (who am I to agree anyway...) that it has gotten waay out of hand and schools are too selective, on the other hand, does it not make sense that there should be different level schools for different academic levels?

Say there are 3 schools in town. A caters to very bright intelligent students who grasp things quickly. B is for average students, and C is for slower students who need a guiding hand. I think most people would agree that kids who are a good fit for C shouldn't got to A and vice versa.
Where the line gets blurred and what I think this video addresses is:
1)a borderline A/B who wants to go to A, or even a B whose father wants to excel by going to A.
2)When it's not a matter of level of intelligence that's causing the divide, but rather how many inches below the knee the mothers skirt is, or because they live in the wrong neighborhood, or the father isn't in Kollel....

Obviously, since a kid going into kindegarten has few skills that can be used to assess their intelligence and learning skills, these decisions are usually based on the external unimportant factors. A lot of what I'm writing applies more to Mesivta/highschool acceptance.

Schools think they have a right to decide who is the right 'fit' for them. On the one hand they should be entitled somewhat to decide if they want to run an A school or a C school..... Yet, to turn down kids for silly reasons is what I believe Rav Shteinman is referring to......

Regardless of the content, you have to appreciate this. This is extremely rare footage. I have never seen such a video.

+1. Now you see what goes on behind all "Kol Korahs" etc., how they are trying to get him to say what they want to hear. It's amazing to see how he doesn't fall for it, and how all of a sudden the father in question is a "meshuggener" for wanting his step kids in a good school.

Oh, and someone get the guy a comb, who does he think he is, the Rogatchover?

Yes, it looked like they went in there to try to get him to say what they wanted him to say. They seemed pretty frustrated when it wasn't going their way!
