How can your donation help?
The more funds we raise, the more people we can hire. The more people we can hire, the faster we can go into production. We're asking for $1 million, which will enable us to hire a foundational team of engineers to help us make a few needed tweaks in our product, and streamline our process, so we can go from prototype to production. I'm not so sure about that.
It makes sense to me that these can be cheaper than conventional roads over the course of their lifetime.
It's probably a little ahead of its time, but I don't think I would call it "insanely unrealistic." (also, I would think piezoelectrics would make more sense than solar for a roadway. -although that would depend on the road, a sparsely traveled road in Nevada would seemingly be far better off with solar.)

The writers of this article are missing the possibility of only using it for new roads and lots. It can then be cost effective if (big if) it more or less pays for itself with generation, SRECs, savings on plowing, painting, etc. The bigger issue may be in the practicalities. It is very nice for it to melt snow from its own generation, but usually it is not sunny when it is snowing. Night may also be an issue. The lit up markets can be a big help in areas where it is beneficial to have the number of lanes in different directions change based on the time of day, but the lights can be difficult to see during the day.........
