Not possible the head of a very big Jewish news site guaranteed me this was 100% legit info and completely reliable. And that we can post it on DDMS with 100% confidence it already happened exactly as reported.

"FAKE NEWS"

i spoke to my hotel wholesaler in israel before shabbos and asked him about it ,he says the supposed buyer never even met the reichmans
and even if he himself had the money,he wouldn't buy it as even the lower price they supposedly got  isn't worth it

It may be #FakeNews but not because you have yet another "reliable" source that told you so.

Still makes no sense. If the hotel is full they get ADR.
And when it's not full, there's no way that it's better having a empty room than whatever Hilton pays for a non-full points stay.

Dan, true if the hotel is 96% they get the hotel adr, if not they get about $60 from Hilton, but two things one during peak nights it will always be more profitable to get a high bar rate than taking a points reservation. Most hotels have a significant portion of lower rated business to serve as a base, which causes the adr to be significantly lower than bar.

If they have numerous no shows, on peak nights, causing occ to drop below 96% they will only be getting the $60 on a busy night.

Tons and tons of point stays( remember after about 2,500 Hilton reimburses the adr regardless of occupancy.

Cost per occupied hotel room is not just the bar of soap and shampoo. After you add in things like labor, franchise fees, travel agency commissions, etc, could easily be over $60

Why would they allow cheap rates on a peak date?

English please.

Labor is a fixed cost.
Variable franchise fees and commissions on a points stay? Huh?

Corp contracts require but I never heard of a corp rate there

Nearly every good corporate rate I've ever tried at other hotels have blackout dates.

Hey dan,
They allow cheaper rates for multiple reasons other that one or national accounts. Thy could have group business that had rooms on a peak night but also has room on the shoulder dates that's make it worth it
Or it's a good client that has multiple group room needs during the year , but won't except the higher rate even during busier times( a lot of government business is like this)

$60 is not necessarily better than nothing. Like what was mentioned previously with the user needs, amount of free breakfast free drinks and points they are giving for service recovery, or they are getting numerous poor surveys from the people that stay on points who are over critical on true expectations and rate the hotel lower, also causing an indirect loss to the ownets.

Where is this $60 figure coming from? Is that confirmed?

Why would point users rate the hotel worse? I've never seen data like that.
