« on: May 30, 2011, 12:44:23 PM »
Anyone have one or can offer a comparison of their 3 LTE smartphones (HTC Thunderbolt, LG Revolution, and Samsung Droid Charge?)

I've seen that complaint about the Thurnderbolt, but not about Charge.
The Revolution was just released last week.

Considering (before they eliminate unlimited 4G plans) depending on how big of a discount I can negotiate to make their pricing more normal.

Didn't the Charge just come out within the past few weeks? You've had both?
All of the reviews I've seen online say the opposite is true.

Not really a factor.  The Droid Charge has a $30 OEM package to get a spare battery, a battery charging cradle, and a cable that allows you to charge your spare battery and phone simultaneously.

Yes it did. And I have had both. the battery was so bad I switched back to the iPhone 3 days after I got it. Granted I was using Activesync and switching back and forth between LTE and 3G

I just wish the Galaxy S2 would come out already (and it sure better have LTE!)

What many people don't realize is that for any android phone there are apps which improve battery performance.
I use Juice Defender and it optimizes by battery life by a minimum of 30%

I have a optimus S

After rooting the Charge and deleting most of the Verizon bloatware I am getting much better battery life. The widgets that constantly connect to the internet and update seem to be the biggest battery drainers.

Are you able to use it as a modem after rooting it?

@Dan
my understanding is that juice defender is similar to powerhero on a palm OS which allows you to control Bluetooth/network connections, screen brightness and schedule them. In addition it kills tasks.
A rooted phone can do everything a non-rooted one can + much more.
You might want to check out PC World they recently performed test of network speeds, and I don't think verizon was better than   Sprint.

What does Juice Defender do to accomplish that?

To my understanding, it makes certain apps that overuse the battery use less battery with the same optimization of the app.
I have not noticed a function difference since I installed it.

Dan if you get a android I will give you a whole list of apps that I like that you might want to download.
