Dan if I can be so invasive as to pry your reasoning, why wouldn't you wait a week or 2 (or could be no wait at all) for amazon/wirefly to heavily discount it? As I recall, Droid RAZR was offered by amazon for $111.11 on its release day!

Do they heavily discount the upgrade price?
Also I'm not sure if I can upgrade via Amazon or a 3rd party as its a corporate liable account.

Upgrade prices are discounted but not as much. Case in point: Droid RAZR current price on amazon is 170 for new account, 210 for add-a-line, and 230 for upgrade. So with my $30 Verizon upgrade discount its not much of a difference. Thanks Dan for pointing this out.

Verizon Galaxy Nexus
« Reply #248 on: December 14, 2011, 10:26:57 PM »
As you probably know the Galaxy Nexus is to finally be released tomorrow (12/15).
http://www.droid-life.com/2011/12/14/official-galaxy-nexus-on-verizon-launches-tomorrow-for-299/
So anyone on here getting the GNex?

I'll be there first thing in the AM. $299 upgrade or $650 full retail. I don't think Radio Shack will have it discounted but Lets talk (http://www.droid-life.com/2011/12/14/galaxy-nexus-available-from-lets-talk-for-as-low-as-155-for-new-customers-175-for-upgrades/) will have it discounted if you can wait for it to be shipped.

Don't get either of them. Buy a policy from Securranty. Put in the Item Price as 499.99 and premium will be $89 for 2 years coverage which includes Extended Warranty + Damage (incl. water) + Loss/Theft with $50 deductible and up to 3 claims per year. Promo code SEC10PUR knocks an additional 10% off.

What will $499 do for me?  VZW sells it for $649 for month to month.
They want $149 for $649 of coverage, less 10%=$134.
VZW wants $5.18 for WPP, or $124 over 2 years.

Do they have a lost item deductible?  VZW is $99.

Never mind, I see they have a $50 deductible.

Not sure if it's worth paying an extra $10 for them for a $49 lower deductible or not...definitely not a major savings.

Truth is it might be worth "self-insuring."  In other words to get VZW coverage for myself and my wife would be $248 and if we lose the phone it becomes $347.  Or it would be $0 if we "self-insure" and don't lose the phone or $649 if we lose the phone.  Of course if we lose 2 phones within 2 years that changes the math.  Then again we've each had Centros for many many years and have yet to lose 'em or break 'em.

Hmm...

Centros are probably a bit more durable though.
