Walmart huge in-store pickup discounts

Did you really think it was a mistake?
Nothing about it made me think it was a mistake. Not with the timing or random selection of items.

What's special about the timing?
It could easily have been a mistake, such as offering estimated shipping cost as a pickup discount, that would explain many huge items with huge discounts. Then again I didn't study this entire deal through and through so you tell me.

If you realized most of the discounted items were the big heavy furniture, and alike.
 While walmart saves on shipping due to the bulk and weight, amazon is trying to compete with having to ship heavy big bulky items, and taking a loss for such an item.

They'll probably get more reviews than they would have otherwise. I can't imagine amazon will give them any less than what they would have gotten before the discounts since it was amazons war and not individual merchants. But then again I don't have a great idea how selling on amazon works.

Will be interesting to see when this Cease fire ends, as one item that i ordered is back in stock by both walmart and amazon, so far the price is higher than the low that was reached, i ordered from walmart for $18.59 after pickup discount. Right now amazon is matching walmart's pickup discount, which is $40.94.

Exactly. It was timed just as Lore has been given the green light to attack. The price wars were escalating with each passing day and Lore decided to implement massive pickup discounts on items designed to inflict the most pain for Amazon.

There is no way this was a mistake IMHO and that's why I didn't let JJ market it as a possible mistake.

Amazon seems to be taking quite steps to compete with walmarts instore discounts.
1. Amazon is advertising on google results with the discount amount listed under the item. I have never seem amazon advertise on google before. (I may have just missed it.) Walmart just lists the sale price.
2. Either amazon or walmart is playing this game. They will match the price on the product. Then when it gets too low, they raise the price alot. Then the war starts again. (From the products I am following seems like amazon is doing this.)

I've seen that for a while. The reason it's not comparable to add on items is because you pay for shipping regardless as long as you're under $35. Prime all the shipping is free so they added add-on items to avoid shipping single cheap items for free.

but with free store pickup they are still forced to ship to the store at their cost
