First question: How'd you book the ticket?
That was a crazy story in and of itself...
We were originally supposed to fly EWR-ZRH-TLV (on UA and LX) at 6:30 PM. Our flight from Newark to Zurich was delayed, to the point where we'd miss our connecting flight to Tel Aviv. And thanks to Lag Ba'omer being Sunday, pretty much every flight was booked solid - with stops and without.
But... after a heck of a lot of skilled maneuvering by an angel named Lynn in the United Club at EWR, we somehow found ourselves in
literally the last two J seats on a overbooked, Erev Lag Ba'omer, 10:45 PM
nonstop flight to Tel Aviv... in United Polaris, no less.
The short version is: after a LOT of back and forth, trying different connecting city options, calling other departments (help desk?) etc, someone she was talking to on the phone told her there's 2 seats on UA90. She said "I don't see them, the flight is sold out" and he told her "there's two seats that are reserved, but not ticketed; I'll cancel them out for you." She then booked us into those two seats.
Somewhere, some TA is probably REALLY pissed. 😂
