BWI would gladly welcome a LCC.
If only WNs 737s would make it. Sadly I don't see them ever going bigger than the 737.

Would a backpack be considered under the free carry on size or do you think they would measure it?

They probably have a box where they require you to put it in, if it fits good, if not it's not good

10 KG is a nice amount to bring on, 2 KG more than other airlines
I can't remember the last time I let an airline weigh or measure my carry on. They only weigh your carry on at check in counters. If I have no suitcase, I skip the counter altogether and if I have a suitcase to check in, I leave my carry on with someone or on the side while I check in and that way they never weigh it.

The closest I got to them catching me was when I flew Wizz air intra Europe. The girl by the gate looked suspiciously at my giant carry on which was significantly larger and heavier than allowed and asked incredulously: Did they measure you bag upstairs. I gave her a huge grin and responded enthusiastically: Of course! It didn't fit at first and I stuffed it and stuffed it until it fit!

It seems you've never flown an airline that tags carry ons and actively check for them at the gate

I've had carry-on weighed by gate.

(I had left carry-on on side by check-in, but the agent noticed it and made me weigh it on scale. Of course, it was overweight. She tried forcing me to pay, but I refused and said I would leave it by a friend in city and wouldn't be taking it. Of course, she knew I was lying, and warned me that I would get stopped by gate and wouldn't be able to bring it onto plane. I said thank you, left, went through security, and then transferred half the stuff from the carry-on into duty free bags. When I got to gate, waiting there was non other than the witch from check-in, salivating over her prey. She grabbed bag from me, weighed it, and was crushed when it was within the weight limit.)
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

I can't argue with other peoples experiences but I have flown multiple times on all the major low-cost airlines and never let them weigh or measure my bag.

If you do get caught, there are ways around it if you are savvy. I once escorted a friend to the airport and Lufthansa was giving him a hard time with his 12 kilo bag (instead of 8 kilo), his hatbox which they claimed was a carry on of it's own and his suit bag which they claimed was another carry-on. I looked at my friend , said "I got this" and stepped up to the counter. I took the hat out of the box, put it on my friend's head and told the lady that I was taking the box back with me. I then pointed to the suit bag and said: "He's putting that on right before the flight and putting the bag in his carry on". I than hulled the carry on up on the table, opened it and took out two gemaras (Oz vehader :) ) and said: "This is his reading material for the flight so it isn't part of the wight restrictions". I looked straight into the check-in lady's eyes and demanded: "Should I continue or are we good here?" Needles to say all the possessions made it safely on the flight.

Good luck trying that with an ULCC who intend to make $$ on carry on fees, get the wrong agent and they'll make sure you pay up to the last ounce.

Only positive I can see about this is avoiding the need to purchase RT tickets.

Years ago domestic US flights would also be considerably cheaper when booked as a RT, especially with a Saturday night stay. As far as I can tell, that doesn't exist anymore in domestic US air travel. A RT is the sum of the two OWs.

If WOW air entry into this market will result in the elimination of the RT with Saturday night stay requirement for low fares, it will be a boon to all travelers.
Of course, my guess is tomorrow when they go on sale this will happen...

...Seriously? LCC exists in Europe for a while already, and what have the legecy airline copied from them, the fees, none have duplitcated their OW fares

They don't have KSML, you can purchase regular meals and snacks.
