LOL. you gotta be real observant to see that mistake. Ha!

No, you just have to read English. I am deeply saddened by the piss-poor spelling and grammar on this forum. It shows sloppiness and a lack of care and, frankly, it bodes of the kind of reckless personality that kills deals.

Hmm... Could have just been a typo?

Sadly, it is not a typo. OP writes "Club carlton" [sic] in both the thread title as well as in the body of his post. He thinks the card he is applying for is called "Club carlton" [sic.] Maybe he should also apply for a Sparwood card or the Narriott.

Regarding value:

1) Here's a decent Radisson in Cleveland for 57,000 points (lowest rate is $139) http://www.radisson.com/cleveland-hotel-oh-44115/ohcleve
    vs.
Sheraton Suites in Akron for 10,000 spg points (lowest rate is $219) http://www.starwoodhotels.com/preferredguest/property/overview/index.html?propertyID=802

2)  Radisson Los Angeles Airport: 38,000 (lowest rate is $139) http://www.radisson.com/los-angeles-hotel-ca-90045/calaair
    vs.
Westin Los Angeles Airport - 7,000 spg points (lowest rate is $219) http://www.starwoodhotels.com/preferredguest/property/overview/index.html?propertyID=1005

so even if you earn 5x the spending, you are still spending 5x the points per hotel. And, each place has a lower cash value than the corresponding Starwood.

Nice breakdown. Thank you
sure - It was helpful to see for myself, as I've been focusing on SPG all year with the goal of a Plat 50 to get the 10 certificate upgrades.

It was surprising to see that a basic Carlson would go for 58K pts. The SLS, and the St. Regis are 5 Star luxury and they top off at 20-30K.
However, as mentioned, the Carlson is good in certain smaller cities where there are no Starwoods nearby. Great map:http://www.countryinns.com/destinations/

It's a good card to use in Europe especially when you're hopping around cities and staying two nights at a time. :)

Nice breakdown Except :

The Radisson in Cleveland is only 38,000 points a night (the night you chose was sold out of regular rooms so you were priced for a premium room) .
While it would take $10,000 in spending on the SPG card to have enough points to stay at the Sheraton Cleveland you only need to spend $7600 to get a free night at the Radisson Cleveland.

Now say a 2 night stay would either be 20,000 SPG points ($20,000 spending) or 38,000 Radisson points ($7600 spending)

So depending on the situation a lot of times you are better of with club carlson card and its definitely a great card to have.
