Anyone have experience with UA.com not allowing passenger to access boarding pass when checking in. Family member claims that the website is prompting them to "complete check-in at airport to retrieve boarding pass".

(This is a basic economy fare)
Risk is opportunity

I had that many times, In my experience it happened more often when I didn't put the passengers Mileage plus number on the reservation. It's no problem, They will just do it in the airport

Avoided adding mileage plus number because it's a hidden city fare

Yes, the agent will check to make sure they only have a personal item and not a carry-on.

Just flew United Basic Economy with a family of five (well in ewr on the return flight), I have the Explorer Card and no status.
Both flights we were 'randomly' given seats next to each other in Economy Plus. Had no problem bringing carry-on bag as well. Without the explorer card (one passenger was on a separate RSVP) the ticket reads really large letters NO Carry On... But other with no such wording, and we all sat together.
was the other persons ticket booked with the explorer card?

Anyone know if they United will be annoying about size for a personal item? I have a over the shoulder bag (like a personal duffel bag) its a little bigger then what's allowed. Thanks!

How much bigger? Do you have a UA CC?
Can always leave it with someone dropping you off at the airport while you checkin...
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Couple of inches... Sadly no credit card. Taxi to airport but that would have been good...

United Basic Economy - OLCI Trick
« Reply #32 on: August 24, 2019, 11:19:29 PM »
Figured out a way to get my boarding pass in advance on a UA BE fare (not a CC holder and not checking bags). Add a car seat as a checked item (free) in OLCI and it will generate a boarding pass for you!

And you'll also get the miles ;)

Do they still pre-board families with children under 2 even on basic economy?

Should be regardless of what it says on boarding pass.
If you have the mileage plus CC you will get #2 boarding even without children.
Sorry if I ask so many questions, but life is short and there is so much to learn! Let's help each other be great!

I don't have a card.

Debating if to spend the $11 per seat to get it in advanced or not.

From the seat map, the flight looks half empty. but I guess there could be lots of basic economy passengers without a seat.

Does anyone know where I can see how full the flight really is?

Yes.

We have a mini stroller (like a yoyo) that we always put in the overhead bin like a carry on.

Will they allow us to bring it on (as the infant is eligible to bring a stroller even on basic economy), or, since we aren't eligible for a real carry-on, will they make us gate check it?

The infant has his own ticket, not sure if this helps

Does this still work? I have done it in the past, but now it seems like its not working.
