BA Household Accounts
« on: June 01, 2011, 05:56:20 PM »
Does anyone know if using a BA Household Account, if booking is limited to only the members of the account?
I have a household account and it is only letting me choose a passenger from the family members.

That is weird. If BA hold bookings, maybe try holding it online and then calling to book.

What airline (metal) are you booking with BA miles?

Yup, that's how I understand it.

Correct, once its a family account, tickets can only be issued to those names.
However, families can grow...

Recent Exp:I had a household account setup with BA when i found a customer for my BA Miles i simply went online to my excecutive account and removed each one by one then just gave the customer my user name & pass,
He had no issues using my miles for tickets.

I read somewhere recently that BA only lets changes be made to a household account every 6 months. is this true? does anyone have experience with this?
From BA.com  16.1.7Once a Household Account is established, new member(s) may not be added or existing member(s) removed more than once every six months. A Household Account may not be dissolved or re-established more than once every six months.

If my family "breaks up", will a previous members contribution be removed from my household account balance?

Yes of course.

So say I have 4 members in my household account with a total of 150k avios, how can I then book a ticket for s/o else? Is the only way to add said person to my family? How about canceling a few of my family members avios accounts, will the avios remain in the household account?

Your question was answered, not sure why you're asking again:

If you cancel any member, then the household will lose that members miles.
So, if you want to book a third party you have to add the reservation.

My second question was a bit different. First I asked about the possibility of removing a member of my household from the account(while said member retaining his account). The second question was; If I cancel (completely shut down the account) of a member of the household will his unused miles float off to miles heaven, or possibly remain in the household account?

What do you mean by "you have to add the reservation". I understand it is having to add the third party to my family. Is that correct?

Sorry, was about to write "add them to the account"

The way I understand it, a household account doesn't have points in it, it has family members listed, each of whom could have points. So if I have 40k BA and each of my parents have 30k BA, we can create a household account for the three of us and I'd be able to combine their point balances with mine toward a 100k award. If one of my parents left the household account they would retain their 30k but (the 30k will no longer be available to the household account, so)I 'd only be able to book an award up to 70k (by combining my 40k with remaining parent's 30k).

Question RE: BA household accounts;

I have a household account where 4 people each contributed 50k Avios, for a total of 200k. I want to redeem a ticket for 80k, how are the deductions made? Do they first deduct my 50k, then 30k split from the other 3 members? Or do they deduct 50k from me and 30k from 1 other member? Or do the split the 80k per member, for a total of 20k deduction per member? Or can I choose where to deduct from? Or possibly a scenario that I missed, I.e. they deduct from the largest contributor first, or maybe the smallest.......?
