British Airways is having a 50% off Award redemptions from today until August 12, 2011.   

Does not include First class tickets.

Business class is allowed for travel within Europe only.   Economy only everywhere else-

Must be solely on BA flights, no partner airlines!

Great deal if you just transferred your miles with the AMEX bonus!!

Even at 50% off it is rarely worth using BA Miles for economy. You can often buy fares that are lower than the BA Taxes/Fees

What about LHR to TLV, are there fuel surcharges there as well or only trans-Atlantic?

I'm looking in to purchasing tickets for my brother and his family
Tel Aviv to Chicago. All 5 of them for 133250 miles plus $ 1,883.50   Does not seem like a bad deal especially after the transfer from Amex.  Considering it's pricing at at almost $6,000 for the dates I was looking into this seems like a pretty good way to spend the miles and caught costs down. Plus I don't really have much use for BA miles. I rarely fly domestic and like you said usually the taxes etc will kill ya!

can I use BA miles from my account to book a ticket for someone else. (A domestic ticket)?

Yes. but you can't book BA only on routes that they fly, and in USA that promotion won't be valid.

The fuel charges per way using ba miles on aa is $5. The 50% promotion is only valid on flights booked on ba, so domestic is not included.
