Local Brooklyn Car Rental Agencies
« on: June 05, 2017, 11:56:21 PM »
Hi there,
I'm brand new to the forum, but have been reading it for some time now, mainly I've been reading about car rentals as that is the most relevant to me, but from so much reading I'm already quite confused, so let me lay out all the cards so it should be a clear picture.
I'm under 25 (over 21) live in boro park (non citizen) and just got my license, I plan on traveling often to MTL, and want to start renting so I have a few questions.
1. Generally does it pay to try to rent from the goishe companies, or the heimish ones are cheaper? (mileage, shabbos yomtov)
Also thanks to this forum i know to waive underage fee for hertz, through doing AAA, but does it pay?
Also any other advice for a new renter?
Thanks in advance!
And I will try to keep posted with what I find\try in the end.

Hi and welcome. It depends if you rent over shabbos it usually makes more sence to rent Jewish. I'm not sure what you asked if it pays to to do AAA.

Welcome! AAA  has other discounts as well, not only for rentals. BTW in the future try not to open a new thread for things that already have threads. Try searching for the car rental thread.

Thanks, I was intending on asking over shabbos so thanks.
About if it pays AAA, I meant to ask if hertz has such good prices that I should do AAA and rent just from them.

sorry but I did try reading as much as possible before opening this thread, I just couldn't find anyone talking about what's cheaper Yiddish or goyish.
Thanks for the welcome.

Why does this make me uncomfortable?

I understand the question but, the wording...

The locals in BoroPark often charge for mileage.
What I do it call for rates.  I give them the start and end dates, and ask for the total price. If it's over Shabbos, you may not get charged for 1 day, but the other days may each be more.
Although I've mostly ended up with local Jewish companies when I've rented.

Perhaps a good use for this thread would be a wiki with a list of local car rental places. (I'd start, but I'm on Tappa right now)

If you do that, perhaps add the word "car" to the title. It implies house/apt. rentals in B'klyn.
