Would you know if i book a rt ticket (that i found using the metrix system) to i have to use every leg of the trip in order for the ticket to remain valid?

do i need to take the flight from JFK to SLC?  it is with jetblue.. does that make it easier?

What do i do about luggage on the return flight? i don't know if the policy is the same as in the US.

As Dan always says, the Airline cant force you to take the connecting flight, but they may punish you so YMMV.
about the policy in GRU , I doubt that you can get your luggage out there.... even in the US they only do this in New York and EWR.  so make your research.
