My company is sending me to Israel for business. I am going to stay an extra few days and have my wife come up. However, that means that the return flight she wants to travel back with me. So her dates/flights are as follows. Going from CLE to TLV anytime on December 22nd or 23rd, and returning on my flight which is United at 11:10 am on Dec. 30, arriving in CLE on the 31st at 9:44 am through EWR.
I have significant points on all the alliances, however, I did not find any good rates (United wants 170,000 round trip for economy!), so I am resigned to actually paying... Anyway, the United RT is showing as $1827. Is there any way to get a significantly better deal than that with given restrictions? Thanks!

Delta and American are $177 for those dates (LGA-DTW). For $3 more I'd fly them over Spirit. Heck I'd even fly them for $30 more.

Or you can use Avios and fly for 9k round trip + $11.2 tax.
