From NYC to MIA/FLL on thursday there is delta at $99. For the return, monday is a little high at around $168 on american. If u could come back tuesday morning instead, u could get for $80 on united, or for $99 on delta.

OK. I'll check it out. As an aside, when I take a flight on another airline should I join their mileage program? Or is it too little traveling to be worth it?

Never to little travelling to be worth it, with UA u need 12,500 points for a one way domestic award tickets, after a roundtrip to florida, u will just need 10,500 more.
