Has the island recovered From the various hurricanes? Or is there still a lot of destruction?

Has anybody ever gone to San Juan with a family of 7? Are any of the hotel options able to accommodate that or need adjoining rooms?

Just wrapping up a trip to San Juan. The resources on the Chabad website are great. The shnitzel sub was amazing and the perfect level of crisp. My wife loved the mushroom barley soup and shnitzel with rice (big portion!). Minyanim had 13-18 people each time. Got a great rate on the Fairmont using the Chabad link, and it's only a 7-8 movie walk away.

Also used the tour guide on his website (Marcelle), she's originally from New York, but sometimes acts Israeli with some of the personal questions :).... But she definitely knows her way around the island and gave us a tour of the rain forest, though it was unusually cloudy and wet day, so visibility was limited. Still very cool and good for non-active people like us.

Walking around old San Juan was a lot of fun! We had our Uber driver take us all the way to the end of the road to the fort, and from there we walked down to the main area. Lots of streets to wander in and around, with lots of cool architecture and fun shops. I also found that the Uber drivers themselves are a wealth of knowledge.

We had a great experience at Residence Inn San Juan Isla Verde. Family-friendly, very close to Chabad. maybe check it out

Chabbad. But almost all of the food in the groceries are imported from the mainland US and you can find all of the regular items with hechsherim.

New kosher restaurant in San Juan named Omrkt. The food was fantastic and very fairly priced.
They have a few locations only this one is kosher, certification under Chabbad. Keep in mind they are closed on Sunday.

Is it worth it to rent a car. Or is Uber easier to deal with? Planing on going to rain forest, distillery.

I rented from sixt right around the corner from chabad. Was cheap and overall easy experience. I don't know much about Uber besides for taking one from the airport to hotel which was a five minute drive (was like $8). Keep in mind if you're staying in isla verde you likely will need to pay for parking if you rent a car.
