I tried priceline - I couldn't get a price even close to $109 for the dates I was looking at.

i assume you tried priceline for your upcoming trip, correct?

what were your search parameters, in terms of area and # of stars?

how low did you go?

was thinking about doing priceline as well to get ~$100/night like bookit, except was hoping to be able to stay in another area (vs Rio Grande where Gran Melia is located).

any suggestions (not hotel names) on where to stay in puerto rico?

from reading thru posts, it seems that most ppl just pick a hotel and the area is irrelevant. since i am renting an Apt, i have much more flexibility. therefore, i was hoping that some ppl who have been to PR, can offer suggestions on which area to stay in. some of the names that have been talked about are: rio grande, old san juan, fajardo, vieques, isla verde etc.....

I stayed in Palmas del Mar its a beautiful area.

Is anyone staying at the El Conquistador during Yeshiva week (week beginning 1/18/15)? We will be staying in the area and are looking for someone who would be kind enough to allow us to purchase tickets to the water park. Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

depends a lot on what you are most interested in. If you want to be close to Chabad - for minyanim or to avoid delivery fee for food - you want to be in Isla Verde. There are prettier places than there though. The Old San Juan area is very pretty and quaint but limited options for food and davening

no need to be near Chabad, and will be bringing my own food. will be in PR from Thurs - Sun.

we rented from Dollar. Yes it was very good on average it was 20/25 min drive to the attractions but Palmas del Mar has some really nice houses and its a gated area if your worry about safety.

I'm meeting some friends in San Juan in a few weeks. The earliest flight I can take after work would get me to SJU around 12am. How safe is it to travel myself from the airport to the hotel in San Juan? Is there a trusted taxi/airport shuttle/transfer that's reliable and safe to travel alone with?

you get out of the terminal and there is a taxi stand that will give you a paper that says how much your ride will be. the driver will not ask you for more. this is very reliable. this is the taxi system in whole san juan

i think should be safe. they have many protocols to follow. but if you get kidnapped please don't hold me accountable

Has anyone stayed in The W Hotel Retreat? What is the beach like there? Would you recommend going with a 20 month old baby? If not which hotels would you recommend? Im looking for pretty beaches and a nice place that would cost around $170 a night.
