I think I saw it somewhere on Vieques for 35. Not sure where and not sure if it's different in other bio bay. Other than that it seems they are basically all about $50. If you pay in cash it's $45 where I went

Each way, but no extra for luggage. Officially you get 25 pounds although my wife & I each had 35 and they didn't even say anything

Glad it worked out for you - I didn't stay on the islands so the ferry worked out for me. Got just a bit nauseous on my first time just the way there. The rest of the trips I was already used to the boat rocking. There are plenty of people throwing up, and the workers hand out barf bags - very thoughtful. A guy sitting near me was screaming at his wife to "drink those chunks down!" :) Which beach(es) did you go to?

Yea I was happy to avoid the ferry, and I got an extra half day on the island because of it (I would've had to leave on 2:30 ferry= get there at 1 & instead I took a 5 pm flight).
I went to la Chiva (blue beach) the whole first day - I wasn't so into going beach hopping, I just wanted to enjoy myself rather than "get it all in". The 2nd day I went to black sand beach and I did a snorkeling tour.

Is La Chiva the one with the very bumpy road that very few people go to?

Yep. Was completely empty when I got there at 10:30 am. Not even one other person. By the time I left at about 2 there were 3 or 4 people there

I don't have any numbers but I'm sure it's not too late. It's pretty quiet during the week

I was supposed to go to PR last week but changed ressie the day before because of storms there and went to Aruba instead and stayed at Ritz. But when I was planning PR I looked into Waldorf but it's so far from everthing. I know someone who stayed at El Conquistador and loved it but it's also far from stuff. I wanted to be more in the middle. Another friend stayed at Marriott Isla Verde which is where I was going to be.

What is "everything"? It's close to Fajardo where the bio bay is and it's not far from El Yunque.

And Las Casitas seems to be the same property as El Conquistador, not 2 different properties.

Yes, what do you mean by everything?

Is there a reason I need to be closer to the other hotels?

The main con for me was we were a good 25-30 min drive from SJU and even further from most of the good attractions. Was tough to drive back because I got tired after a long day.
I was referring to what ayman said because I believe the hotel he stayed at was not too far from Waldorf.
Regarding the bio bay, as I said upthread, Cayman was amazing in that we were able to swim with them. Being in a kayak or motor boat just can't compare. Accidently falling in the water, that's another story. ::)
I'm not sure if they have a beach on property. I think you have to take a boat ride to go to their private beach. The place looks gorgeous but I think it's just too huge for me.

It's very close to everything interesting. Besides Old San Juan. Stay 1 day in SJ and checkout the old city, and the rest of the time check out El Yunque, Vieques, and Culebra. IMHO, Vieques and Culebra to the main island is like Waikiki to Kauai.

+100 spend as much time as you could on the Vieques/culebra. Main island doesn't compare

I was just there with my wife, and kid. ( Just started writing up a mini TR ) We personally didn't like it at all, the grounds are nice but that's really it. We found the rooms to be very dated - and even the official newly renovated ones only have some new furniture at best. Both rooms that we stayed in had peeling walls, and old furniture. The pools there are quite small, and there is no beach at the hotel. They have a private island that you go to with a ferry, but you have to shlep all the way to the Waldorf, and then walk a bit to even get to the ferry. If you want to stay in the fajardo area, then the Waldorf itself is definitely the better option.

-1 there are two properties in El Conquistador. The Main Waldorf resort, and Las Casitas.
