I stayed in the el conquistador, its nice - though not as good as other waldorfs.

Yeah, that's my impression read reviews. It's only WA in name, but apparently the views are glorious.

I was just there with my wife, and kid. ( Just started writing up a mini TR ) We personally didn't like it at all, the grounds are nice but that's really it. We found the rooms to be very dated - and even the official newly renovated ones only have some new furniture at best. Both rooms that we stayed in had peeling walls, and old furniture. The pools there are quite small, and there is no beach at the hotel. They have a private island that you go to with a ferry, but you have to shlep all the way to the Waldorf, and then walk a bit to even get to the ferry. If you want to stay in the fajardo area, then the Waldorf itself is definitely the better option.

Interesting. I had read the Las Casitas was actually better than the WA.

Stay at the St. Regis  ;D

At 30K SPG per night in PR? Nahhhh

So had I, and that's why we decided to stay there. I didn't manage to check out any of the rooms at the Waldorf, but unless they are downright terrible, I can't imagine them being worse then la casitas. And again the WA pools are definitely bigger, and nicer, and much easier to access the water park, and ferry to the beach.

I'm assuming LS stands for La Casitas. It's about a 2-3 minute drive, 15 minute walk

-1 there are two properties in El Conquistador. The Main Waldorf resort, and Las Casitas.

If you go to Vieques I highly recommend Jak Watersports. I had a very positive experience with them. I enjoyed it so much I went on a snorkeling tour the next day with them which was also great

Does anyone know the local laws regarding minimum liability on rental cars?

In all US states except CA rental companies provide state minimum liability and they sell options for supplementary liability, does PR also require rental companies to provide minimum liability?
Will rental companies force you to show you have liability coverage or force you to buy theirs?

I'm 99% sure I didn't buy. I paid a bit over 100 for a week.

I had an issue in Cancun not too long ago where Mexican Law requires rental companies to include minimum liability, and still the rental company forced me to buy their additional liability (I ended up disputing the charge with my CC as the website said clearly it was optional). Apparently in PR there is no minimum liability requirement for rental companies and I don't want to have an issue where I will be forced to pay for it at the counter (the websites aren't clear).
I have travel insurance which covers personal liability so I don't want to pay for any additional liability, but I wont be able to prove the rental counter that I'm covered, and if I don't they might make me pay for ALI/SLI.

You don't have regular car insurance? Just show that.
