i will be arriving to SJU on a wednesday at 5:30 pm and departing the following tuesday at 7:30. my main objective for this trip is privacy and relaxation. After reading thru the board, it seems like vieques or culebra is the way to go. as im tied to the ferry schedule and theres nothing past 6pm to culebra it seems like vieques might be the only option to go to after arrival. i would return to mainland monday to be on time for the tuesday am flight. am i thinking this thru properly or is there some other better way to plan this?

Looking at hotels here, why is it that the Ritz is showing no availability the whole October? Any other great hotel options?

Considering a trip in March. Is that a good time to go?

Also, looking at the Courtyard Isla Verde (Bonvoy Cat 4, have a few anniversary nights...) and the Hyatt "Resort at Coco Beach" for 12k points/night. Thoughts?

March is great, but I strongly recommend going to Vieques and/or Culebra. They are by far the nicest parts of PR.

Thanks for your input! When you say "go," you mean stay or visit? If stay, any recommendations?

Thanks!

Is there a chabad or kosher food in either of those two locations?

Not that I know of, but the Chabad caterings/takeout in San Juan is 10 minutes from the airport.

Chabad is in S. Juan. Vieques and Culebra are two small islands off of Fajardo, which is about an hour drive from S. Juan.
When I went, it was a a bit last minute, so there wasn't much available on the islands in terms of where to stay. I ended up staying in Fajardo, and taking the ferry to the islands.

Those who stayed at St Regis, did you go to Chabad for Kosher food? They charge a whopping $70 for food delivery since its so far? Making me second guess if its worth staying there.

You need to bring your own food or rent a car.
It's far.

Unfortunately there are no nice hotels anymore near Chabad.

brought meat no problem.

keep in mind when I visited 2-3 yrs ago that Chabad operated a small "grocery" store where you could buy quite a few stuff. in addition they also had a "restaurant" (meat & dairy). their hrs were limited but iirc there was pizza on sat night :)

Strange thing. Twice my luggage with food "got lost" on different airlines to PR (Delta and JetBlue).  Clothing made it, food didn't.
Never had any issues when I took the food as carry-on.
Might just be my bad luck, but be careful.

That didn't last long. All availability taken down now. Anyway to get a hotel to open availability?

We're a bunch of adults and kids going for yeshiva week. Coco Beach. Didn't do much research, but looks nice/new and only 12K a night, so booked 4 rooms.
