Amex has just lowered my credit limit on my Blue card from 9k to 5k without notifying me at all.
I have other cards from amex too, but nothing changed there.
(I opened a personal SPG and a Bus gold delta a month ago)
what does this mean? should i expect anything, F/R...?

Was any one F/R'ed that had to send in a letter from a bank that confirmed your address? If you have and Amex accepted it can you please write exactly what was written on the letter? (or pm me)

I want f/r'ed but AMEX put a security freeze on my wife's account. I had to go to a bank and they fax a form into the bank for the banker to verify her identity and notarize it.

Are you talking about something like that?

Dunno word for word, but what Amex wanted, and what was written was something along the lines - My name, and address, and that I am customer of that bank.

Amex wanted to confirm my address - and they want it to come from the bank.

Not that I think this makes much sense, but this is what I needed, and got, and it was fine.

I have sent Amex several letters in the past and every time they were no good. Once because no phone number to call them back...then not on official letterhead...then not addressed to amex...I can go on.

I had the same issue with Amex. IIRC I ended up getting a letter from BankDirect. Just try and stick to a small bank where they can write you a letter without telling you that they aren't authorized etc.

I didn't really have a problem with the bank telling me their not authorized to write a letter as much as Amex telling me the letter did not have everything in it they needed.

I understand, but Amex gives you very clear instructions as what they want written on letter and if the bank can't deliver specifics it aint gonna work i.e. Amex requested that the bank confirms my home address, but the bank refused to write that I live at my home address because they don't know if I live there, so they wrote that according to their records I live at XXXXX, but Amex wouldn't accept it etc. I don't remember if BankDirect gave me a letter or Ally Bank, whoever it was, wrote that they confirm that I live at XXXXX and Amex accepted it.

Thanks. I guess there's a difference if the bank writes they confirm it or just that its in their records.

I went to a Small branch at Sovereign Bank. Wells Fargo said they can't do it. I was upset at them, as there shouldn't be any reason a Bank can't write a lteer for their customer...

From Sovereign, I got a letter head, on official letter head, with a Biz card from the banker.

The smaller banks will have the time to deal with you.
