The account is about 14 months old, was just upgraded from gold to play in Nov.

I have been following this thread for quite some time and was not just stam asking something that is basic knowledge AFAIK. I make an effort not to do that.

The reason I wonder whether this may be ok, is that they will not process as returns, but as pending charges that will just fall off. IINM, AmEx has a reputation for clawing back bonuses when spend that was responsible for reaching the threshold was later refunded, but in this case they have been voluntarily giving the bonus even though the spend never posted, significantly different.

I recently passed a F/R.. Very surprisingly they lowered my credit drastically when I showed good bank statements.. Either way the trigger was loading $ at Target on the redcards.. They claimed that once they saw all the charges coming through they wanted human eyes on the account. Something like that.. Either way my lesson learned is only use a bank CC not named Amex for Redcard loading (unless youre using someone elses redcard maybe maybe, also pref not as redcard is an amex product after all)

The trigger was the spending on the red card or the reason why they lowered your credit was because they saw that you were withdrawing all the money in to your bank account?
Btw how much money did you spend on your Amex cards?

Which card ? Was he doing anything that would cause it ?

I think he said it was the business plat. He had done a few thousand of RC loading recently, with some regular purchases as well.

Yes, I recently had a F/R & a fraud review.. basically on new accounts if charging gets heavy early on they can demand ID to indeed verify there isnt identity theft going on.. wasnt a long process but I bumped into a good rep who took care of it for me..
