Beyond upsetting.

Went to Target to swipe and it didn't go through. Not on the biz plat or the gold. Again. My 4th overall transaction on the card and each time I had to call to verify it.

I call and spend 40 min on hold to tell them to verify it. The person tells me he can't verify it unless he can call a number that is not my cell number. I tell him that this is the 4th time within 2 weeks that this happens and he says "Well, we don't trust you yet so either you give me a number I can use that isn't your own or Ill ask you to send in ID's and other verification requirements". So he calls my wife who gives me the reference # and the rep goes on to clear the account and says I can now use gold and plat biz without an issue. He hangs up. I go to swipe. Guess what: No go! Tried another 5 times and it wouldnt go through. I am pissed.

I feel for you man. I got the same issues on my dw Amex account.

Have you used the CC's for small bills? With a new card, especially Amex, I load $100 - $200 onto my REDcard, and over the week, slowly increase loads till $1k. Once I teach the "system" my spending habits, I get no issues with the larger loads.

More of an Amex issue then a RC issue. Had this happen to me at other stores as well which is why I posted it here. But who cares. Hope this stops happening. Will buy a pack of gum with my Biz cards tomorrow. $:-\$

You might have to call them to clear up fraud concerns.

I have done this 4 times already. Every time being told that it is all cleared up just to find myself denied again.

Best part I didn't mention is that after that I try calling the 24hr line on the back and it says "Please call back during regular business hours". Is this a joke!?!?

Are people having these problems with all Amex cards, or just the two that you're trying with? Because I haven't had any problems with my (or my wife's) SPG. And the Target loads were the only charges going on the card during the month.

Just buy the personalized amex gift cards online then load to RC

I had the same issue, I used the PRG and the EDP and the SPG after 7k all of the cards got denied, I called them up I was on the phone with them more then 40 min and it triggered me a mini FR

but I answered all questions and after that all went through.

Do you think paying off the card and starting again within the same month would've help avoid this issue?

No. This issue happens after too many large transactions, ( especially when they are all the same or even amounts )
It's good to do random amounts like $321.21 then $789.89 then $500 this helps.

Incorrect, just order through a portal, they usually give between 1-2% CB - you actually make money
