Had cards with Amex. But no active cards.

did he close his old accounts due to an f"r?

I (my wife) got fr"d a year ago so I closed the accounts, today I applied for a platinum and got instant approval b"h,  than when i logged in and I see     "Charging suspended. Please call 1-800-678-0738 if we haven't already spoken with you"        my q` is should I now go forward with the other applications I wanted to try some business cards and more,  please help

happy update b"h ,   wife called now and after being transferred to the credit department (or f"r department) they sad  "it looks like its some system error" and they cleared the account b"h 
so it seems if you get instant approved after an f"r you should be fine

Called in the FR  department,  they asked me all about my personal income,  they didn't ask my any questions related to my business card,  they just  send me some forms to send back to them,  should I just ignore the business part of I should tell my rep that the business didn't  file tax return yet.

Unfortunately charging suspended usually means one thing, and one thing only - FR. The fact that only his business cards are suspended is uncommon - but I would say that means that only they are under FR.

If your rep didn't ask you about it, then your rep doesn't want to know about it.

A friend just got approved for a gold 25k green 25k and everyday 35k.
They added the cards online upon approval.
The Gold and Green have messages stating:

Charging privileges are suspended. Please call 1-800-678-0738 if we haven't already spoken with you.

But the everyday doesn't have that message.

Is this an F/R?

A friend of mine just had this experience, I asked him to write it up to benefit guys here. Hopefully there ares some interesting data points here...

Here goes:

"I'm a somewhat of a newbie to the credit card game and based on some ill advice, I signed up for three Amex cards within a month of each other and was immediately approved.

After making a large purchase on two of them on the same day I was hit with the FR. I was out of town and at first the agent assigned to me was quite unfriendly. Upon returning to the USA I immediately transferred all my signup bonuses to various airlines and called back to tell them that being that I didn't have a steady job the previous year and my income was from personal jobs, therefore I didn't file tax returns properly and have no way of proving my income. In the meantime I had ‘complained’ to the receptionist that my assigned agent was not being understanding or helpful and I had taken the time and energy to schmooze him up. This proved to be a big help.

The agent then told me that since I'm a unique case they will allow me to get away with bank statements and pay stubs from my part time job. My bank statements were not very high, however they are very active and my boss was kind enough to exaggerate my pay stubs which I sent in the same day. Luckily after chatting up the agent for a while I passed the financial review with flying colors, nothing closed and no credit limits changed."

That's the story as he wrote it up. Hope this is helpful to someone.
