become an authorized user on a friend or family members card. (i think its better to do it on a card that is active for a few years)

Or if you have never applied yet, try a store credit card like gap etc.

I did about 8-10 months ago. And this week I applied for a 3rd Starwood card and got approved, even with my other two still open. I assume the bonus will post but we'll see about that in a few months. I dont even plan on spending on that card yet since I have to spend 2,500 on my Citi TY and 2,500 on my Amex PRG in the next 3 months.

I have never given a starwood # on an application. I got the points both times. And both cards are still open and I was approved for a third.

the two cards that were opened -- were they a churn? or first time to get cards?

One was a first and the other was not. They are both personal SPG cards, not business btw

I just got 3 new Amex cards. Is there any harm in linking all 3 to the same online account immediately? My question is if that will affect the 3 bonuses at all. Thanks.

EDIT: Never mind, I just realized they're all already in my online profile before I even activated them.

to get back to this conversation for a second, I did barclays recon 3 times w/o extra pulls

but Chase did it to me once

my suggestion is freeze your other reports before you call you should be safe!

does anyone know if Chase's recon dept. can tell whether an applicant is male or female?

I want to call recon about my wife's apps and want to know if they will know that i'm not the applicant.

Depends. If her name is Chanie or Basya you should be fine. If it's Kimberly they might figure it out!

Ok all kidding aside, I dont know if your credit report states your gender but I don't believe that it does. And I also don't think they ask for it on the application (though I never really paid attention to this detail)

they do not know, i have successfully pretended to be a sara! ( i told them it is an ethnic name and is pronounced sahRAH with a rolled 'r' which is technically the sefardi pronunciation

I wonder why they dont check. Instead of them asking all these crazy fraud prevention questions why dont they 1st figure out if the gender matches.

AFAIK they dont. Just make sure not to call for you and your wife minutes apart and get the same rep.
I wonder why they dont ask on application , maybe they're not allowed
