First time poster here - you guys are all great and your help is much appreciated. 

Quick question - I recently took advantage of a bonus promo for the amex plat. business card that I got in the mail - I have spent the required amount and the MR points have already posted - but I haven't even paid for the purchases yet - I am planning on cancelling the card since I have a personal platinum and don't need this one.  Should I wait until I have paid for the purchases before I cancel?  Or since it has posted even if I cancel now - are the points still mine to keep.  Only difference is that I could wait another month until the payment is due.  Also - obviously that the longer I wait to cancel the less of the annual fee will be refunded...

Points are yours to keep, though officially they can pull them back ("clawback"), though I havent heard of that with AmEx.

Either way will require you actually pay your bill eventually

Yes, you can. I did and received the $75 statement credit a couple of months ago. I haven't yet made any purchases on that card.

honestly not quit sure but im actully doing the 3bm for my wife i justed got my amex spg 2day(that must have pulled a credit just now). and i already have the chase sapphire for about 7-9 months and canceled about three months ago my ba card  so im holding off on my credit

I SM'd AMEX for them to match my SPG 25K offer to the 30K which was released shortly after I applied and they replied that they can not honor it because it was not available at the time of application.
Any ideas what I could write back to get them to apply the points?
