Hi, I am new to the forums and am not sure if this is the best place to post but I saw that it is CC links and FAQs. I have had a AMEX Gold Premier Rewards and an AMEX Starwood for 2 years. I just read on the dansdeals site about how consumer cards can hurt your credit score depending on how you use them. I want to apply for the business gold premier and the business starwood. I am curious about how this CHURNING works. Do you guys reapply every year to get a new signup bonus and prevent from being hit with the yearly fee? Also, should I apply for 3 AMEX cards and try to do this mutli-browser thing?

Welcome!

You can reallocate your credit line onto a different card before closing a card. Or you can just keep it and have 2 of the same cards and try to get a retention bonus on the first card.
I don't see why not to do a 3 browser method- go for it!

What exactly is a retention bonus and how does one go about getting it? Also do you recommend going for the AMEX Platinum then downgrading to GOLD after you get the benefits or just applying for the Gold right off the bat to get the 1st year fee waved?

A retention bonus is when you tell the cc company you want to cancel the card and they offer you points/money to keep the card. There is a whole thread about it

AMEX being really stingy with retention bonuses of late IIRC .

I heard that with the Citi AAdvantage Platinum card you can go over your credit line (my CL is $5k that i can use/swipe $10k)

1. Is it true?
2. If i do it does it harm my credit?

1. If it a NPSL card, you'd be able to go over limit. By how much would be determined by your credit profile and relationship with CITI.
2. Yes, it can by maxing out util %.

Yup, but not irreversibly. (You'd just have to cancel the AU, and if necessary dispute the account on your CR.)
