It makes it slightly more difficult, but by no means impossible.

They can link you via address (if it's the same a primary cardholder), as well as a number of other ways. SSN just makes it easy.

Two questions. The first thing that I found while trying to sign up for an AMEX platinum is that there is a bonus offer going from the UK that if you get someone to signup for the PLATINUM (even though you do not have the platinum but the gold or some other card) then you get 22K and the person who signs up gets 50k. Do you think that it is possible to use this even when signing up for a CC in the USA? The second question is there any possible way to refer yourself to another card or would the only way around this be to sign up a spouse and have them refer you to a new card?

I did it. It opened new browser with all familiar 65k link. It worked for me. If you do steps not mentioned above, it may not open the same link.

Interesting what i had now with Chase!

Got approved for my BA card Yesterday but the card didn´t show up in my Chase account online, and it said on the phone that the app is still pending... so asked them whats going on? till i ggot in hold with the Lending department she tells me that i was approved.. just they didnt yet get a 16 digit account number for me....... and this may take a few days!!!!!

Wha t does this mean?? are they out of numbers?
