I have 3 citi cards that have no reason to be in my wallet.

 what's the best way ( for credit) to get rid of them?

1. Close them down

2. Consolidate the credit limits to one card? (I have 3 cards and don't see use in them )

Any other options are appreciated!

quick q on my amex patt   they charged me my AF already (after my first month) if i cancel before my second month is over (jan 22) then will they cr me the 450?

a side point if i want to downgrade to a PRG will i get the AF waived and points? if not i guess ill just downgrade to a blue cash or macys

Can u still wait til Jan. and still be in the 60 days from when the AF was posted?? if yes then wait take the $200 airline credit and then cancel

They only give a full refund within 60 days, otherwise it is pro rated which is $37.50 per month.

--Up until 60 days one can get full refund of $450;
--After 60 days, one can 1) get an exception, 2) downgrade to a lower-fee card or 3) apply for another card and then cancel Platinum to get fee prorated,
With another AmEx:
--Up until 60 days one can get full refund of $450;
--After 60 days, you can 1) the above first two options, and 2) get the fee prorated.

Thanks ajk. I think i knew this its in the wiki.  But I am with in 60 days and would like to downgrade. Meaning just cancel the card but keep my points by downgrading and still get the fee credited

Did the sign up bonus points post to ur account?? and do u another card (except of this 1) with amex?

I have another month - but no bonus yet. I will sm them bec i do need the points by 2 weeks or so so i can get a flight.  And no other amex - its my wifes acct. im honking to ask for a retention to keep it. I did put 16k on the card my first month

Dont cancel before points posted, ask them for it, i did and got it, after spending what needed
U will need to have another Amex linked to that MR account if u wanna close this 1 and be sure with the points, so downgrade it to gold thats only $125 a year

My mom said insurance is nuts and that since the insurance is in her name no one can purchase i a card other than hers (in sure if it isn't they prob will give her the money anyways). But Its ok. I filed the claim for my suits on Friday - so wll see what with that. Thanks though. U think they'll give me a retention for spending 16k?

A friend of mine says amex told him that he can't downgrade his Platinum card to the zinc card, as that has been discontinued. Is there any truth to this?
