so I just found out I have a capital one card .. opened back in 2007 .. (probably the first card i ever had w like a 750 CL haha) .. and it looks like on my credit report that its still open.... and i obviously don't physically have the card... so i called to see what the status of the account was.. They told me the account was technically still open but the status said "reissued but declined" meaning my card had expired but since i had no activity on the account in a couple years they never sent me a new one... and they maybe able to reinstate the account as active (whatever that means) ...

I'm wondering ... assuming there are no credit pulls and all that... does it make sense to have them reactivate this and spend a dollar a month on the card just to get the free 6 year history sitting on my report .. My weakness on my credit report has always been short history and avg. age of accounts... ? 

My current oldest active card that i use id a 4.5 year old freedom.

Yes. Especially if your weakness is short CC history and since the Cap1 card doesnt have an AF.

Used to be..got deleted.  I guess if you have a one time question about the worth of points you can ask.  Or search the forums..there might be unofficial threads discussing it.  But remember...points value vary on the day and size of account.

and got approved for plat,gold,delta

on spg it said to call

I just studied the application for MB plat and gold and it looks like the rules differ from gold to plat

the gold rule is,

the plat rule is,

Saying that if I reach the spending limit on the gold first, and I am eligible for the reward, I can now still be eligible for the plat bonus

I've read somewhere that if your available credit line amongst all of your cards is more than your annual income it's a problem, anyone here of such?

heard the same  - honestly i think its obvious, if i write i make 100k a yr and my line of cr is 120 that means the bank is giving me more than i make a yr...what sense would that make - even if i do pay off all my debts ill still be left TECHNICALLY with a 20k debt
