When I saw my first denial letter, it was past 8 pm, so I called the 2nd number and even though I gave my reference number, they were able to see my entire profile and they made a note on my United 30k application. Then, I tried recon 5 times on this card and it didn't work because they knew.

1. call up chase after the 12.5k limit posts on my report and say they are not my largest lender.
2. convert this 6k into 5k for sapphire (that's the minimum on the preferred card) and 500, 500 on continental and freedom. Then close continental and switch to United.

IIRC the minimum for a chase non-preferred card is $1000 even when the card is being opened with credit that is being shifted from another card.

Yup when I transferred credit the minimum that was allowed was $1000. Also I am pretty sure that the $5k is for any visa signature card.

+1 IME, with other banks too.
But I noticed that sometimes, when credit is moved away from a signature card and it goes down even as low as 1k, it will still retain signature status.

I have the citi aadvantage card. Its a signature card - I originally started with 5k credit line but later they cut part of my credit line. How do I know if it still retains signature status?
(In general, wats the benefits of a sig.?)

I am completely ignorant when it comes to FF programs so I would appreciate the help. My in laws put a ton of money on cc and all they really use their points for is tickets from ny to vegas (for themselves and family). Currently they have a master card world elite rewards. Which card would you guys recommend them getting to maximize their rewards?

Thnx but I find out now that they only like flying jetblue. I see you don't have the jetblue amex on the card list in the OP. Do you think it's worth it to get that or just go for something like the the amex blue sky or the chase sapphire preferred?

So from what I can find it looks like the amex blue sky with no annual fee and paying out at 1.33 cents a mile seems to be the best for booking on jetblue. Am i missing anything?

Forgot about this. Looks great. Any idea what kind of protection debit cards give you? Are you just as covered as with a cc for chargebacks and fraudulent charges?
