Yes. It's a general rule at Chase, but not ironclad. You can push it through anyhow if you're determined. Call them back and tell them you think you can work something out with them.

Not necessarily. IIRC I've gotten reconsidered (and approved) after 30 days (but called multiple times during the 30 days), and I'm probably not the only one here. YMMV.

30 days from the letter might work if you got your other cards approved before the letter came

(perhaps that's an incentive to call with the appID before getting your 'rejection' letters...)

+1, I'd wait a few days between calls (but that's just me), I'm not sure why though.

that's what I'm hoping for. The 2 apps were already approved and the letter prob won't come for another couple of days

Yes, but don't waste any time as the Continental program/card won't be around for too much longer.

CO, UA, Ink Bold, and Sapphire Preferred (links in the first page of this thread), are all good. With some of the spend requirements it might take some time until you spend and they post, just a heads up.
