Does it have to be a switch? Maybe consider just applying for a Freedom.
Don't think chase will approve have sapphire and southwest in last 6 months. What do you say?

If your credit and income situation are good, then it shouldn't be a problem. Even if you get declined, just call Chase reconsideration and they'll probably push it through for you. I would even apply simultaneously for two cards (one in each browser) first (two applications) for yourself then (another two) for your wife.

With reconsideration you can always offer to take credit from an existing card or offer to close it to get a card pushed through.

Remember to use the official DDF links when applying, you can find them in the first post of this thread.

1. Transferring points from where to where?
2. Which free Amex points? If they are Membership Rewards points and you hold a Platinum, Gold or Green card you can transfer them to airlines.
3. Any reason you're addressing these questions to me in particular?

What's the 'free' Amex card called? Do you earn 'Membership Rewards' points on that card? If yes you can get those in the same acct as your PRG and transfer them to an airline.

Those should be able to be combined with your PRG MR points that transfer to airline miles.

He said PRG which is the Premier Rewards Gold card, which is a Membership Rewards card as opposed to the SPG (starwoods preferred guest) which gives you starpoints

You can transfer them to miles once they are in a MR (regular) or MR First account, not an MR basic acct (like your Amex blue had). Once you call Amex MR to link them, then they should all be in one account that you can transfer to miles online.

As to your second question, you don't transfer the points to a card, you make sure the points are in the same account with your PRG. Any Amex charge card that is Green, Gold, Platinum, or Black should transfer to miles online, once you have one of these cards, any card that earns MR points and is linked (same online login?) should deposit to the same MR account and also be transferable.

I repeated myself a few times, hopefully it'll help you understand my response.

dan on the southwest card u mention 110k points from any source for CP. That is no longer true  not every point counts. I have been doing research on it and it has gotten very confusing

Do you have a list of what does or doesn't count?
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.
