Re: consolidating credit lines, do both the bank and the credit provider have to match?

eg a bank of america visa, citi amex and citi visa, would all have to remain independent and unconsolidated, meaning that to close any of them to avoid yearly fees would cost in terms of credit score?

Question regarding Chase reconsideration, for Sapphire Preferred, for someone who wrote down homemaker with less than 25k income was told that their financial obligations are greater than income (mortgage/rent payments) and application was deeclined, are there any other options for reconsideration?  Person has very good credit score but no other Chase CC to transfer credit from, any ideas?

Yes. Does the homemaker have a spouse with an income? That income can be included.

yes, that tactic was tried but rejected by rep as not possible based on the housing costs are jointly shared by the couple.

Then I would advise the homemaker to take it slow. Don't go for the Sapphire Preferred yet. Go for a regular Sapphire. Then he/she have a foot in the door with chase.

EDIT: Maybe a Freedom card would serve better for openers, not sure.

Anyway, it hasn't been a problem for me.

2 quick questions about the freedom and sapphire pref.

1) I opened my freedom a bit over a year ago when I moved most of my banking to chase (checking, savings, car loan etc). I did not receive any cashback or points for opening it and I see now a link for $200 cashback for opening a freedom. Do you think they will match that through a SM?

2) The sapphire pref give you 7% dividend on all earned points at the end of the year. Does this include points transfered from my freedom? If this is the case I'll make sure to transfer all of them (about 40k now) to my sapphire before the end of the year.

Re: 1, I really don't think they'll do it easily, if at all. But doesn't hurt to ask. Worst case is you're in the same position as now.
