General credit question for the forum.

I've been very successful at getting cards approved both for me and my wife. With chase we basically have 3 cards that are constantly open and we move credit around and cancel cards to win new account approvals.

With Amex however we keep on getting approved to the point where we must have over a dozen open accounts with them and a heck of a lot of credit. We always pay off our balances (many times early) and use our credit cards very responsibly.

Since we never cancel the Amex accounts (just move them over to blue cash when the bonuses are over) does there come a point where Amex says too much credit?

Also can other banks be scared off by the mere fact that we have so much credit versus our reported income?

Anyone????

Yes to both counts. You're also risking the dreaded Amex F/R...

why can't you just move over the CL and close the amex cards?

So what do you suggest Asher?
Start closing some recent Amex accounts? (the ones that I'm not using anymore?)

How would that help? Is it the amount of cards that are the problem or too much credit?

I depends on your spending patterns and whether you'd survive an FR. If your income is >$50k and higher than your combined Amex CLs you're safe. I'd close some cards if I was planning on applying for more.

Both. I wouldn't move over (too much) credit, CLs of $25k and up are reportedly an F/R trigger.

Not really. Just that I don't like to be stereotyped, especially when I don't get the stereotype...

I will repeat . It's an old NYC  Saying and I have no clue where you live or were born or anything.

I didn mean to stereotype you, but I am a stereotypical New Yorker  and very proud of it .

Didn't mean to insult or anything . I will delete it if it offends you .

I  just got 2 alerts from credit score and found 2 pulls on experian  from chase and amex dec 2nd . This is after having   amex card approved over the phone without pulls on nov 30th,  and my last chase approved with an earlier corresponding hard pull in mid november and no new chase apps since then .

Could the Amex pull have happened after approval and before I actually received the card thus no rush on their part.

But how do I explain the same day Chase pull without a new request ?
Is there ever any linkage that any hard pull by either , triggers a hard pull by the other regardless of applying for a new card ?

I want to get rid of CO and open the Slate that offers 0% APR + free BTs, so I'm thinking that I can call a credit analyst and ask her to simply switch the card over. Has anyone ever opened a card without actually applying?

I beleive there was a place to contest it on the credit secure site. Would I be putting myself  under scrutiny if I asked to have it removed . The amex timeline makes sense , but The hard pull by chase happened  the day I got to Germany and started charging heavy .

Can that trigger a pull as I already had a pull by chase 3 weeks ago before getting the card ?

*** Correction the Chase alerts  on my credit score was not a credit report request , but rather a report by Chase that a new account has been opened in my name . OOps

The way I understood it, you'll get 2 free visits to any PP lounge.

Spend less then 50% of your CL, then pay it back, and spend again until you reach 5k.

1. It's no longer a Priority Pass membership, now it's called LoungeClub.
2. If you spend $2k then pay it off, you can spend another $2k, even within the same month. You can do this several times a month, and with smaller amounts too (i.e. swipe $1k/week and pay it as soon as it posts).
