When closing a card to avoid paying the annual fee, are you able to move the CL over to another card so as not to lose it completely?

Depends on the issuer, but typically you can.

Chase?

I think so. Chase should even do this for you for an active CL, from the OP of this thread:

Chase:
Chase: 888-298-5623 (Credit Reallocation - Consumer)
Chase: 800-453-9719 (Credit Reallocation - Business)

Didn't they start giving out score as well, or is that only if you were declined?

I got approved for the Citi Hilton card two weeks ago and they sent me my Experian score with the new card (724 even with 10 new accounts in the past 18 months!).  6 months ago I got my scores from all three bureaus and Experian was lowest because here in (Monsey) NY it seems like every bank checks through them.  The other two were around 760 and Experian was 735 back then.

I just got a letter from chase saying in order to approve my co onepass they need to verify my annual income by faxing them 1 of the following.
1. 2 most recent consecutive pay stubs.
2. most recent w-2.
3. most recent 1099.
i am a bocher with 0 income. and i don't know what any of these 3 things are.
If someone can give me some advice to the easiest one to do, it would be greatly appreciated.

TIA.

Weirdly i forgot to mention the account already posted on my online account 2 days ago.    ???
So now i am not even sure if i was declined.
Update: just called chase and they told me I was approved.
So now why dod I get that letter could it be just reconsideration when they didn't accept me?
Should I worry about this?

Sorry if this was talked about, searched and din't find anything about it:
Is reallocating credit between credit cards from Chase back and forth a few times a FR trigger?
Thanks.

You won't find many people talking about chase FR's :D
If you're referring to their AA where they close down all your cards, then the triggers with those aren't very clear and I haven't seen anyone mention moving CL's around as a cause for AA. Keep in mind that moving around CL's means they aren't issuing you new credit so it isn't any sort of additional risk they are incurring to warrant AA

I don't remember which thread I saw it in, but somebody on here made the claim (and I think it sounds right) that Amex is mostly concerned with credit risk, and therefore one can work with them to keep some credit open (close a few cards, lower your limits, etc, and you will be a less risky customer.)  This is why Amex will warn you first and then work with you (at least more-so than Chase).

Chase, on the other hand, is more concerned with abusers of the system (because they cost more?), and will close down your accounts without contacting you first.  Since credit risk isn't the main reason for the shutdown, it is more difficult to bargain with Chase - as far as they are concerned you are already guilty of abuse.

Of course, I've never had FR or AA so as far as this topic goes, I'm a n00b.....

I've mentioned this here, it's just speculation, albeit educated by the experiences people've shared.

How is that new credit? Moving existing credit from one cc to the other..

Welcome to the forums!

Note that with Chase you might have to fight to get the third app approved, see here for an overview of current offers.

I'll make you a deal for your next ten questions (within reason). I'll answer all of them if the following criteria are met:

1. Your questions are written reasonably clearly.
2. You don't get an answer within three days.
3. You don't bump the question(s) during those 3 days.
4. You post in the appropriate forum/thread.
5. You don't ask a "new" question that's basically the same question as the last 3 questions
6. You post all you questions/statements in one post in oppose to 3 posts one after the other (same applies to quoting ppl)

Your welcome AsherO ;)

I guess that's where we differ, to answer the same question 10 X (especially from the same person!) I've got an issue with (never mind a double repost! :D )

I can just quote all 10 questions and post one answer, we can call it a reverse-Cbs ;)

Haha! idk if I'd call it reverse it may still fall into category as "pull" but in any case, that post would put a big smile across my face!
