To answer your questions simply
1. Follow the links TimT provided.
2. If you can't get a retention offer, and the AF is not worth the card, try to downgrade to a free option, of not cancel the card, it'll barely make a dent, unless it's your first card. And follow the links TimT provided
3. Yes. Tho not so simple for the most part, so follow the links TimT provided
4. No
5. follow the links TimT provided
Hope that helps

Thanks! Much appreciated.

Some of that info might be outdated.

With many chase cards there’s the 5/24 rule.
http://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=60699.0 Important to keep in mind if you’re applying for any of those & you’re under 5/24 to do them first.

Feel free to ask in the Misc Credit Card Questions thread anything on your mind.
Regarding which cards to keep & pay AF & which to cancel it all depends on which you’re gonna be using all the time & what the points/miles are worth to you.

Thanks for being so welcoming  :)

Yeah, I was wondering how up to date some of the info there is. TY

Of course the more recent posts will be more up to date. If you aren't sure if something is accurate, or still in effect, or if something isn't there, you can just ask.

@Dan is there a way to get a search option on cardratimgs.com? I was looking for the Ink Cash link and without a search option it was kind of hard. (I wound up getting it via a post about the CIC)

Hi Dan & DDF Staff,
I've accumulated points on AMEX SPG, Amex Business Gold membership rewards and Chase Visa UA Explorer cards.
I know why I use the Chase UA card (UA tio Israel & CLE), but if I'll be flying to Israel & Ft Lauderdale Florida, which cards give me the best use of points AND what airlines do they tie into .. Disclaimer, I have gone on the card websites, but it is confusing for a 60+ yr old. Thanks for replying.

You can check out this post to see which points transfer to which airlines.

For domestic flights, you can use southwest or jetblue directly, and for United, Delta, and American, you can also book saver awards through there partners. Just keep in mind that when your logged into your United account, you'll see more availability than when your logged out( and these can't be booked by their partners).

Thnx GAM Z.for reply yesterday. Would someone from DD or DDFS, want to consult with me (willing to pay a fee). I have a spreadsheet of CCards & Airlines where I have accumulated points. I am not sure if they are the best cards to keep, for travel to both Israel & Fort Lauderdale FL. I do not travel for business anymore, so most of my points have accumulated by credit card purchases and personal travel. Should I transfer, switch to a better card(s)? I appreciate all the posts in the Forum, but to a novice, it is very confusing. If anyone wants to discuss, or provide consulting, my email is billh55@gmail.com  Thanks _

I do not suggest you pay any consulting fees, no one is an expert on all, just post your questions, I am sure you'll receive many helpful answers from different members, no fees needed.

Can you please add which airport do you fly out of, to FLL , and to TLV can you do connecting flights in Europe , Canada etc or do you only look for direct flights, which are not easy to find to TLV , huge demand for these.
I was the Best, still the Best, and will always be the Best.

Thanks Ludmila.
I fly out of EWR to TLV.  We've done the connecting flights, but not a fan of the 3+ hrs layover, so we prefer direct, which I believe are United & ELAL.
For FLL or PBI. We prefer EWR, but have also done LGA. Can you email me (my email is billh55@gmail.com). I have an excel doc that I need reviewed to see how to consolidate points & decide if the cards I use are the right ones. Thnx again

I'd suggest possibly a TYP card to be able to transfer for QF to book Elal for TLV.

Thnx. I'm a DDF novice, but I got the TYP abbreviation. What is QF?

Thanks davidrotts63.. your link says  - "Those points can be earned from AMEX Starwood"..   so, if I have 200K AMEX Starwood points, I simply transfer points from Starwood to Quantas and book on ELAL from Quantas site?

Correct. Obviously subject to availability.
Now with the SPG devaluation you're better off earning QF with TYP at 1ppd (1:1) vs. With the Marriott/Spg which you'll get just 0.833 (6:2.5)

I am interested in getting a credit card with cash back and no foreign transaction fees (I live in Israel). I checked and have good credit though I haven't had a credit card in years. My research sent me to get the Capitol One Quicksilver.
What are your thoughts? Is there a better card for me?
