Back on Feb 16th I had persuaded Hyatt GP to enroll me in Diamond trial. confirmed in email. shortly thereafter I applied for a CC. I notice now 2 things: 1) it never stated Diamond trial on my online account ( I figured because it was only a trial...) 2) I never received suite upgrades in my account, which i understand even trials get.

I just last week did my spending on the card, and this morning got the 2 free nights posted to my rewards online. however the are not for a suite.

What could I do? even if I get them to enroll me now in Diamond, I dont see how I can convince them to change my free nights to a suite... the only advantage would be that I'll bea diamond during my stay in mid July, but not sure if they'll give me free kosher breakfast where I plan on going (Hyatt Carmel Highlands).

apparently it was a real mistake on their part. they emailed me that they'll enroll me in the trial but forgot to do it...

first phone call - enrolled me now into the Diamond trial based on the email correspondence from February. so, now I'll be Diamond at check in!

another few phone calls to change the free standard rooms to free suites. not a major hassle. they just needed the higher managers to authorize it.

Now want to book the Hyatt Carmel Highlands, but suite only available 1 of the nights. does anyone know if its possible or common for things to open up?

also, what would policy be regarding free kosher breakfast for Diamonds? is it only at Park Hyatts?

+1 Does anyone know if free kosher breakfast for Diamonds works at all Hyatts? I will be staying at regency century city and regency mission bay and would want to try to trade kosher breakfast for free parking...

I don't know if this is too late for you, but I just stayed there last week as a diamond on an award . It seems that this time of year is high season there and the property and rooms are pretty full, so I wouldn't count on something opening up.

You will get free kosher breakfast from Chabad of Monterrey. While there shouldn't be any problems if you need it I have the GM's email.

I also want to mention that while I heard very good things about the hotel, I personally wouldn't use an award here. The service is impeccable and the rooms are very nice but the property reminds me of Har Nof: lots of buildings crammed into a very small propety area.

Also, it can be a bit cold for going to the beach(if that's what you want to do). When we were there it was a high of 65. The scenery along Route 1/PCH is amazing though.

Yes they will trial match to Diamond. You may need some Hilton account activity though.

Do you know why it's beneficial to get the diamond status prior to applying for the Hyatt card? Can't any benefit from Diamond be applied once you get it?

If you apply for the card as a diamond you get two free suite nights

+1. what he said, though to be exact, you get two suite nights if you're approved while Diamond (thus, you'd be able to apply, get pending, get matched, call recon, and get suite nights).

I just called recon today. I'm hoping the approval takes some time...just stumbled across this thread now...arghh
I'm assuming I'll miss it because from what I read I will need to fight with hyatt to get the diamond status without a stay history.
Is there anyway to request the suites ex-post-facto if it's within a day or two? Who would I call Chase or Hyatt?

I'd say its possible.

You'd speak to Hyatt.

Someone on DDF had a somewhat similar predicament -- where the nights given weren't suites because Hyatt messed up on his Diamond Trial. They eventually changed them. Get matched quick, and ask nicely.
