Do you know if those upgrades are valid if you booked a Hotwire Hotdeal or a Priceline Express?

Look at the Hyatt Diamond Trial thread. Should all be in there. Essentially get the trial, meet the amount of nights (which can be done on the cheap at low tier locations with C&P) or by just booking for other people out of your account and done.

Maybe somewhere inside.

I was able to find the information below;

Quote
Diamond Challenge Eligibility:

To be eligible for the Diamond Challenge, you must have one of the following status levels:
Hilton Honors - Gold or Diamond
Marriott Rewards - Gold or Platinum
        IHG Rewards - Platinum
        Starwood Prefered Guest - Platinum

Signing up for the Challenge:

If you meet one of the eligibility requirements listed above, send an email to goldpassport@hyatt.com or contact customer service at 1-800-304-9288 to sign up for the challenge.

Some people report only having to provide proof of having an eligible elite status with a competitor, however most people have to also provide proof of a recent stay (typically within the last year, and this could be an award stay). However, YMMV on what is required from you.

The Challenge:

Upon signing up for the challenge, you will immediately receive a 60-day trial Diamond membership (which entitles you to all of the perks listed above.)
You will receive 1,000 bonus points for the first six nights that you stay at any Hyatt property (within 60 days.)
You will also receive certificates for 4 confirmed suite upgrades.

To complete the challenge you must stay 12 eligible nights during the 60-day trial.

Only paid bookings (including Points+Cash) count towards eligible nights. Free night awards do not count. Although booking at MGM Resorts normally count toward earning elite status, they cannot be used to satisfy the Challenge.
Successful completion of the challenge entitles you to Hyatt Gold Passport Diamond status until February 2016.

Just read through the last ~year of posts here.

I find it interesting that everyone is worrying about Hilton Gold but having no stays and SPG Gold not being good enough - the IHG cc comes with Plat which matches to Hyatt Diamond. Does no one have an IHG cc??

I also have a question that I think you'll say "no one to know for sure", but I'll ask anyway. What's the better option for getting suite upgrades if I'm on the trial during my stay?
1) I book with C&P and use the 4 suite upgrades. Obviously, this will get me the suites but will cost $600 for a 4 nights at a cat6.
2) I can choose to use points or cc nights for a stay, and then call up and ask to be upgraded because I'm Diamond and it's my anniversary.

IME #2 no one will guarantee you a suite. They might tell you that they will try to give you a nice room, but that can very well just be a room with a better view. If you use c&p I would recommend calling the hotel directly and mentioning its your anniversary and therefore asking for a nicer suite, instead of calling the diamond number and just getting an executive suite.

I almost always go for the C + P with a DSU. You earn points and stay credit and a guaranteed suite. Then you can email and ask for a better suite because of your anniversary.  ;)

Just $600 is a lot of cash. Obviously, the a cat6 hotell is worth more than that for 4 nights, but that's still a lot of money.

Agreed. Having a CB card or something like the Barclays card to offset those kind of charges helps out.

So sell your UR or nights. The math makes sense most of the time when you include the points and status earning of C+P.

I'm agreeing that the math makes sense. It actually probably wouldn't make sense to sell the points because then you would have to pay full price for the rooms since you wouldn't have points to use for C&P. My point was that C&P is still expensive dollar-wise.

You sell the points you save by using C+P ;)

Do C&P the first night with a suite upgrade. Other 3 nights with points or free night. Email before saying anniversary etc. Chances are you will keep the suite especially if your diamond.
