I am happy to report that after being turned down 4 times and humbly and politely asking them to reconsider their decision, I was just status matched to Diamond!

you were matched from SPG Gold to Hyatt Diamond? Or from SPG plat? (and how many stays?) so far Hyatt turned down a match from plat with 23 stays ytd...

just to clarify. I have HH Gold and SPG gold. I have 6 stays with HH and 11 stays with SPG. I asked for the match on the first few days of the program well over a month ago, maybe even two months already. Each time with another reason why, no longer HH, not taking gold SPG, Need more stays..etc.. Now they finally just said welcome to Diamond!

so you kept sending separate emails to the same hyatt passport email address? Or did you keep responding/replying to the offer refusals each time?

I kept on replying to the email that denied me. When I look at the threads each time I responded, I got another confirmation telling me I submitted for a status match and each time a different person gave me a response...

so you just keep telling them how you can't meet the spg goals so you need hyatt diamond, instead? Or is it better to show that all the nights you've spent at spg in the past, you'll spend at Hyatt instead if they give you diamond status?

All I did is send an email using the words humbly and respectfully many times throughout. I said that I would welcome the opportunity if offered Diamond status to try to use them as soon as possible on my next stay...

true; he's super lucky, however i'd keep trying bec an spg platinum is a traveler who has hotel stays at least 2-3 times per month. (25-25 per year for most plats.)
That can be translated better to Hyatt -- more hotels in most city-destinations.

I used the hyatt diamond (which I got with spg gold) to get Hilton diamond. First they said it wasn't enough info, second time it worked. Thanks guys. Anyone know if I can now go backwards from one of those to go to the next level spg?

No one has mentioned getting Hyatt or Hilton to match to any SPG status. Don't think SPG is matching.
