(I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right section, but where else should this be?)How many hours before an international flight should one arrive at the airport?I know 3 hours are suggested. But is that really necessary?Maybe some of the seasoned travelers around here can build a consensus.Thanks.P.S. I'm surprised there is no thread about this. Maybe I just couldn't find it.
Depends on the airport, terminal, & time of day
If u need check in, if you wanto visit some lounges, if you wanto do some shopping, etc.
Depends on ... & time of day
No shopping or lounges.Let's say JFK and TLV, August time.
What times of day are slower or faster?
Which terminal? What time of the day?If flying in the evening from terminal 4 (JFK), you should give yourself minimum 2 hours as the lines by security can get very long
JFK Terminal 1 at 11:30 AM.TLV 10:30 PM.
Not sure about terminal 1 in JFK, but in TLV it can get pretty busy at night since there are quite a few flights departing at that time. I would recommend at least 2 hours to be able to get thru checkin, security, and have time to teach your gate without having to rush
