Traveling to Israel via Moscow
« on: June 27, 2017, 02:30:45 AM »
I will be traveling to Israel via Moscow. I will be flying Delta into Moscow and Aeroflot into Tel Aviv. For those of you familiar with the situation regarding Simcha Tamkin being innocently arrested in the airport, is there anything to be concerned about? Is there anything to be careful about before flying?

Is it confirmed that that was the issue?
Doesn't add up for me.

Whatever the story was, it definitely isn't the norm for travelers to get arrested.
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

Dan: I heard from friends of the family that the issue was that he said that he didn't have bullets, because he didn't want to have his suitcase searched (like "yes, packed it myself, and no, nothing belongs to anyone else"), and that is why he was arrested. Not just for having bullets.

So you mean to say that he lied to a federal officer and got caught?

Reminds me of this.

Why not? Some power hungry Russky decided to make a fuss, and his higher-ups backed him up...

it's an unfortunate situation but don't carry bullets, plain and simple. Other bochurim on the same flight did not get arrested.
