Help! Need Rental Car San Francisco to LAX

My wife and I will be arriving at San Francisco Airport on July 17 at 11:30pm, and will be leaving LAX on July 24 at 9:30pm.

We will need a rental car when we arrive in San Francisco to have during our trip, to drop off at LAX when we leave the following week.

So far it seems like prices are over $700 after all taxes and fees for the smallest cars (compact, economy, etc.). I am 24, however even with my USAA account (which removes the underage fee when booking through Budget & Avis) prices are still sky high.

Does anyone have any insight into how to get the best deal?? $700+ just for the car rental is absurd!!

I read somewhere online that these vouchers might not be valid for one way rental, which I'd be doing by picking up in SF and dropping off at LAX.

Is this true? Is it also true this can't be used together with USAA (which would remove underage fees)?

I would suggest National with known c*a* c*o*d*e. If you did it once you know how to do it. Have done 1 week for $156 or so. (before insurance)
