Doctors in the US are prepared to try a treatment and obviously believe there is a chance to make the illness less terminal. For a doctor or judge to deny such an option to the parents of  a child is either the epitome of arrogance or intentional evilness. A system of law which can allow such a travesty loses all legitimacy in my eyes.

What defines "terminally ill"? The doctors in Europe came to the conclusion that there's no way they can save him, so they determined that he's terminally ill. There are other doctors in the US that claim that they might be able to help, and thus the child isn't "terminally ill" (yet) according to their professional opinion.

This question is completely irrelevant. It should not be up to the government to decide when someone should die.

But to answer anyways, treatment may extend his life. Every moment of life is inherently valuable.
