Chase - getting refunded till 30 days or 60?
« on: June 12, 2011, 10:47:43 AM »
I have applied for the BA card. In the BA master thread it was discussed multiple times that you can get refunded the annual fee till 60 days after getting charged. and so has Dan answered all the replies on the main site.

In fact, I just canceled that one, and I called in to get this credited back, and they told that it is only till 30 days. Anyone had this, or is there any other suggestions?

Oh well, must be a new policy on their part as people did post about getting a refund within 60 days.
Still 100K miles for $95 aint bad :)

Not at all.

I just wanted to know if I was a targeted victim of this $95 charge. and I see I wasn't the only one.

I reported getting the refund within 60 days in another thread. It happened to have been within 30 days , I wrote 60 because I assumed that was the time frame. So could be was never 60.

I am well within my refund period and my 103,125 points are sitting in my BA account as we speak.

I have 2 other Chase cards, a Freedom, and a CO.

What should I be telling them at Chase?  To consolidate the BA line over to CO and/or Freedom?

It's worth mentioning that I was denied for the BA originally b/c of "too many inquiries" - but then when I called up Chase, they closed down my old WaMu CC (3k credit line) and then just re-assigned the 3k line to the BA Card.

To me, having had Chase move a 3k line to accomodate me and open a BA card, get 103k miles, and then close the card w/in 60 days may come off as shady/red flag.

Therefore, does anyone have a suggestion as to how this can be approached?

In the end, I don't mind paying $95 and cancelling before the year is over in order to avoid "red flags" BUT if someone has a good suggestion, I am all ears!!

Thanks!  ;D

I just called, got transferred to a supervisor who was annoyed on the fact I even suggested it might be 60 days when he himself told me it is 30! "there's nothing I can do." I would try calling again but Chase never gave back the annual fee after the 60 day period so I am assuming that they will not give back after the now new 30 day period.

BTW, how often to you guys wait in between phone calls?

Chase doesn't clawback the miles when you ask for closure and refund?

So is there anyone out there who can recommend a "good reason" for cancelling a card within the 30-60 days if/when the Rep asks "why" I'd like to consolidate the Credit line from my BA card to my CO card and close out the BA?

Thanks!

Too hard to keep track of so many cards, keeping it simple.

I JUST CANCELLED MY BA.  2 IMPORTANT THINGS:

1) CR Said CHASE no longer consolidates cards and instead of moving my credit line to one/both of my other Chase cards, she said she could only close the card. (ouch to credit score..?)

2) She specifically stated that the $95 will be REFUNDED within 60 days.  Not 30.
