Just consolidated my BA card no issues at all the csr made no mention of a policy against it. It pretty much sounded like it was standard procedure.

Probably depends which department you talk to. IMO recon will shuffle CL's more easily than regular cs

I was charged 30 days ago for the BA card and they just told me:
1) I have up to 45 days to get the $95 back.
2) I would lose the 100k miles I got if I cancelled.
Anyone know if redeem my miles before the 45 days, would I lose the tickets too?

You certainly won't lose the tickets.
And I have yet to hear of a bank taking back the miles for canceling a card.

I just spoke to a rep about my closed ba account he said a credit should be issued automatically if the account is closed within 60 days of being charged the annual fee

They told my wife the same thing yesterday . When I didnt see the credit she called back today they insisted they cant reverse it it happenes automatically and it might take 1-2 months .I guess we need another phone call tom.

I just went through this for a few chase cards.

Bottom Line: There are two different policies. Some say 30 days and some say 60 days. Just use SM and you should get it within 60 days. I tried prodding for a refund after 60 days and got this curt response (I think the Rep knows it was a churn):

"A first year annual fee waiver is not part of the 100,000
miles enrollment offer from British Airways. The $95 fee
is a valid charge and can not be removed."

I requested to waive/prorate my $95. I canceled after 62 days.
I got following reply.

Dear XXXX,

I regret I am not able to honor your request to waive or
prorate the $95 annual fee. The $95 annual fee is a valid
charge as part of the 100,000 miles enrollment bonus from
British Air.

If you have any further questions, please reply using the
Secure Message Center.

He actually wrote that they told him that he has until --/--/11 to cancel (wasn't true). Seems that they agreed with that.

Just to give an example. When trying to match a sign-up bonus, saying "I was targeted" or "I got an email with this promo code" is lying.

Saying "I saw this promotion" is not lying.

And when they ask: "where did you see it?" you for sure answer: "dansdeals or flyertalks, etc", and you for sure end up getting these bonuses.....

I don't have a back and forth because I use SM. Not sure why people waste their time on the phone. The reps that know you are playing the chrun game will deny you even if you lie and for the reps who don't have a clue "I saw the promotion" is usually good enough...
