Amex (Hilton card) denied my claim as defective items are not covered. I appealed but no cigar. My wife found the back of an earring broken in 2 pieces stuck in the back of her ear, but the stud in the front piece was gone. The purchased occurred just 4 days before.

Lost items are also not covered. I remember a purchase protection tv ad where a newly purchased hat got blown away into a river, I wonder if that would be denied as well.

smartphone fell into swimming pool, would that be covered under "accidental damage"?

Phone slipped out of my hand, hence cracking just the outer glass, wonder if covered? (the whole glass cost 3-5$ which i'm tempted to change myself, they sell a board for 35-40$ which heats up to the exact temp so you don't kill the lcd and then slowly remove the broken shards, and then for the future should I need I have that machine and put the uv glue and job complete.
Silly me for not putting the monthly charges on my ink cc.

what do you mean lost items are not covered?

From the PP terms: Covered Incident means the loss or theft of, or damage, whether by accident or vandalism, to any one item of
property purchased worldwide as a gift or for personal or business use and charged to Your Account

I leased my iphone on my amex card and it broke. Amex is claiming that they will only cover up to the amount I paid so far which is $150 and not the total financed price which I am responsible for. The insurance deductible is $250

Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks

Purchased macbook pro from Apple store in Jul. Last week I experienced the issue with its screen and it does not lit up anymore. It appears to be pixel damage issue and might need screen repair or replacement. I identified the issue on 83rd day after original purchase date but have not been able to go to Apple store for repair due to other personal issues. Now it has been more than 90 days.
Will this repair would be covered under purchase protection or extended warranty? THanks

Start the claim asap and put in the 83rd date under date of incident.

FWIW i have filed A purchase protection claim more then 5 month after I bought the product, though the incident was within 90 days. (granted it was for a small dollar amount)

I had a phone stolen. It was on att plan. But I paid remaining huge chunk off using amex card. ATT doesn't give a receipt for device payment. How do I get a proof of device to submit for a claim ?

Does the amex blue business plus offer amex protection or not ?

Before I made the purchase I specifically looked up on the amex site and on other blogs to make sure it does. Tried to find a post on DD talking about it but couldn't find. However everywhere it said that it does offer PP.

And now when I filed a claim it got denied  by quote:

"Under the Key Terms of Purchase Protection, it states:

"Eligible  Card  means  those  card  types  designated  as  eligible  for  benefits  by  American Express" .

What does that mean ?

The BBP does indeed have purchase protection. The T&C's can be found here: https://www.americanexpress.com/content/dam/amex/us/credit-cards/features-benefits/policies/NAC-Benefit-Guides/Benefit-Guide-1-1-20/PP_Benefit_Guide_316-402_EDT01.20REV_10.20.pdf

Hope this helps

I've highlighted the relevant section from the Amex T&C. Looks like you would not have coverage.

If an item is damaged while out of country, is it still covered? Did not find the exclusion on the website but wanted to be sure.
