Delta JFK-TLV business experience?
« on: June 13, 2011, 09:02:40 AM »
Hi,

I was wondering if anyone here has flown from JFK to TLV and back in business class on Delta, and can comment on the experience. Is it a "good flight"? I.e. how's the plane, the seats, the service... would you recommend it?

Thanks

As International Business Class goes it is pretty low on the totem pole. Though for 120k Delta it is well worth it!

IMHO:
Continental
US Airways
Delta to ATL (777)
Air Canada
El Al
Delta to JFK (747)

Keep in mind that Delta plans to re-configure its 747's in the coming year

I flew Delta lie-flat BE a couple years ago TLV-ATL.
It was OK, the leather seat isn't particularly conducive for sleeping.  The badatz BE meal on the other hand was very good, but they only had one badatz meal for my wife and myself.
Service was OK at best.

I found it to be pretty comfortable and the food to be pretty decent as well. The reason that I give EL AL such low grades is because of the fact that its Business Seats are not completely lie-flat and I find them (relatively) difficult to sleep in. The benefit of EL AL C&F is the fresh Kosher Food and Wine as well as the King David lounge at TLV which is significantly better than the Dan Lounge that everyone else uses

I would agree Delta & El Al (747) are similar seats, El AL (regular) gets the food vote.

Is there a trick to getting a 120k Delta biz ticket? Does status help?  I have had a few CO's for 115, never had any luck with Delta.

EL AL 747 is definitely better than DL 747.

They generally open less than a week before departure. This winter it was open all the time for some odd reason

I have not flown El Al, but AC's new Executive First is a decent product.

why swiss over ba???    i flew swiss' famous "slip right off the seat" angled flat business seat and it was as uncomfortable as it gets for sleeping.

This is why it's hard to generalize.  Some LX planes have lie-flat and others are angled.

Why LH over BA?

I personally enjoyed LH business (on it's 346) more the BA's business product (744) which was pretty cramped if you asked me.

Well, if you're flying A380...

It obviously depends on the aircraft/seats...
